Bringing 25 years of experience to Blach, David oversees the company’s in-house preconstruction services team, which includes estimating, mechanical/electrical/plumbing, constructability reviews, and Building Information Modeling.
David and his team work closely with Operations to provide accurate estimates, value engineering and constructability services to Blach projects. Recognized for his efforts to improve Blach’s systems and incorporating best practices, David joined the Leadership Team in 2012. His industry knowledge and preconstruction expertise working with a variety of clients, including the Intel Corporation, Sutter Health, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, provide insight and guidance as the company seeks new and better ways to grow its business.
David began his career as a Project Engineer for Clark Construction. In 2004, David began to focus exclusively on preconstruction, joining Turner Construction. In 2009 David joined the Blach team as Estimating Manager, working on significant projects for clients including Santa Clara University, Oak Grove School District and the Palo Alto Medical Foundation. In 2010, he was promoted to Director of Preconstruction Services where he helped streamline the Subcontractor Pre-qualification Process and strengthened the integration of Blach’s preconstruction and construction groups.
David is active in a variety of industry and community organizations including the American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE) and the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). He is also a member of SPUR, the San Francisco Planning and Urban Research Association, and the Phi Beta Kappa Northern California Association. David earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree from Duke University and a Master of Science in Real Estate Development from New York University.
