YWCA Recognizes Landau-Leonard with TWIN Award

Santa Clara, Calif. – (January 31, 2013) – Santa Clara-based general contractor Blach Construction Company is pleased to announce that Gaye Landau-Leonard, Vice President of Human Resources, was recently selected to receive the prestigious Tribute to Women and Industry (TWIN) Award, presented by the YWCA.

For the past 29 years, the YWCA Tribute to Women Program has honored women who exemplify “excellence in executive-level positions and the companies who employ these women.” Recipients will be honored, along with their employers, at an awards ceremony on May 21st at the San Jose Fairmont Hotel.  The event will showcase the award recipients, chosen by a group of former YWCA TWIN Honorees through a blind selection process.

The nomination criteria include demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities, top-level responsibility for a major functional role, substantial impact on the organization and responsibility for managing a substantial portion of the organization's employees.

“Gaye has made a very tangible impact on our business for the past five years, guiding us to become and remain consistently one of the top Best Places to Work,” said Mike Blach, President & CEO of Blach Construction.  “Perhaps even more impressively to me, however, is how she has helped so many of us in building our careers, strengthening teams and even work through personal challenges.  She truly is a great friend and coach to all, and her generous spirit, combined with her strong business savvy, makes her invaluable to the Company and to each of us.”

Gaye is the second Blach executive to be recognized by the YWCA (www.ywca.org).  The organization honored Blach’s Controller, Laura Bold, with the TWIN award in 2005.

Founded in 1970, Blach Construction Company builds structures of enduring quality and value throughout northern and central California.  The company’s experience encompasses a broad cross-section of commercial, industrial and institutional building types, including education, healthcare, technology, life sciences, professional services and civic/community facilities.  Blach is also a recognized leader in sustainable design and construction.  The company is based in the Silicon Valley, with full-service regional offices located in Stockton and Monterey.
