Annual Founder’s Day Celebration also Marks 45th Anniversary

San Jose, Calif. (September 9, 2015) – This year’s annual Founder’s Day celebration was even more special as Blach Construction commemorated its 45th year in business.

Every year around the founder Michael S. Blach’s birthday in August, the company hosts a special celebration to remember him and to reflect on the company’s history.  This year the firm held a unique, family celebration on Saturday, August 22nd at its new headquarters attended by more than 260 of the company’s employees and their family members.  The theme of the event surrounded a “construction Olympics,” with gold, silver and bronze medals handed out at the end of the day to all winners.

Games included a hammering contest, a Lego building contest, races on motorized ‘toilets,’ wheelbarrow races and, for the adults, a beer-tasting challenge.  Other attractions included caricatures, face-painting, horse and tractor rides and even a petting zoo.  In the center of the company’s large training room, early company memorabilia and artifacts were artistically displayed, including one of the company’s early transits, the founder’s office chair and many of the company’s early brochures, tee shirts and baseball caps.

Amy Blach, the firm’s events manager and daughter of the founder, created and orchestrated the event, which won rave reviews by everyone who attended.

“It was such a special day,” commented Mike Blach, president and CEO and the oldest son of the founder.  “I felt like I was transported to a different time and place, to a small-town county fair or carnival in the middle of America.  Amy did an amazing job of creating this special celebration of our father and our 45th anniversary!”

Blach Construction Company was founded in Santa Clara, Calif. in 1970 by Michael S. Blach. The company began in a small office in the back of a warehouse with only three employees.
