LEED Gold Headquarters Renovation & Expansion

Blach Construction Company expanded its Silicon Valley corporate office, certified LEED® Gold. The project nearly doubled the existing office space, from 14,000 to 26,000 square feet and features numerous recycled and renewable materials.

In keeping with its principles of sustainable building, Blach incorporated low or no-VOC materials, Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified lumber, recycled and rapidly renewable materials and energy-efficient appliances, which are expected to reduce water usage by 37%.

In addition, half of all construction material used in the expansion was regionally manufactured.  The kitchen features ENERGY STAR®-rated appliances, recycled fixtures and a fold-in glass partitioning door, which provides the opportunity to host seminars and the flexibility to entertain clients and guests.

The expansion also included the addition of open-office workstations with wood and glass accents, four new conference rooms, a 1,000-s.f. fitness center and a 1,400 s.f. training center that accommodates more than 100 people and includes state-of-the-art audio/visual systems.

The Blach team reused 22% of material from the existing space, successfully diverted more than 96% of demolished materials from the landfill and, through the team’s collaborative efforts, arranged for 100% of the office’s power needs to be provided by a green power source.
