(By Mike Blach)
As Blach Construction marks its recent move to San Jose, I invite all of our clients, business partners and friends to stop by and check out our new headquarters, which opened in December. A few months ago, Blach purchased a tired, mid-‘80s R&D building in north San Jose and completely re-purposed the structure into a state-of-the-art corporate office.
As a builder of some of the most beautiful offices in the Bay Area, we get to see how some of the smartest Silicon Valley businesses create exciting, engaging workplaces. We incorporated these innovations into our new space and added many of our own ideas, creating a unique blend of private and open space, numerous collaboration and team rooms, large communal gathering areas and even an outside recreation and dining space.
The office also has a large shop that will enable us to prefabricate many components of the buildings we construct, allowing us to further accelerate schedules, save money and improve safety. Our shop may be the largest of its kind (in a general contractor's office in the Bay Area), and we’re just starting to ramp it up.
Our design/build team also made sure that the building included numerous energy-saving, sustainable features, such as a new, dual-glazed, Low-e window wall system, all LED lighting and a solar thermal heating system - one of the first for any commercial office in California.
So come by and visit us to see our workplace of the future. We welcome your visit and are excited to give you a tour. Our address is 2020 Fortune Drive in San Jose. Give us a call (408-244-7100) ahead of time so we can make sure we’re ready for you. I look forward to welcoming you!
