New LEED Gold Library Learning Center
Blach and the Orchard School District have collaborated on a half dozen projects in the past five years. Most recently, Blach completed the renovation of the District’s administration office and the expansion of its library learning center.
The District Office and library project included a 2,200 s.f. addition to the existing library, architectural exposed roof decking, energy-efficient lighting and HVAC systems (tied into the campus Energy Management System), unique and impressive exterior finishes, an architectural wood grille wall/ceiling system and an all-inclusive control center at the Librarian’s centrally located desk station.
In 2012 this project became the first LEED Gold certified K-12 public school building in Santa Clara County and the third in California.
Previously, Blach completed the construction and installation of a 240 kW PV system to the Orchard School District in San Jose. The district-owned, “grid-tied” PV system was designed to improve the surrounding climate by reducing the amount of heat typically generated from the existing asphalt.
