Multidisciplinary Building & Fine Arts Center
The new building, expected to achieve LEED Silver certification, is located on the San Jose City College campus and includes several multi-disciplinary classrooms for fine arts and photography, laboratories for the visual and performing arts programs, staff offices, student services, various site work and landscaping.
Blach Construction and AEDIS Architecture & Planning completed the 48,000 s.f. multidisciplinary classroom building for the San Jose/Evergreen Community College District this August.
Student-centered features of the user-friendly structure include an exterior “art wall” that celebrates creativity and writable-surface interior classroom walls that encourage spontaneous work and collaboration.
Some of the green elements designed into this environmentally sensitive project include a minimized building footprint, maximum use of open space, abundant daylight, a high-efficiency HVAC system and building envelope, and a cool roof.
