San Jose, Calif., Oct. 19, 2020 – Blach Construction (Blach), a full-service and award-winning commercial builder serving the Greater Bay Area and Monterey since 1970, congratulates Vice President Kim Scott on three well-deserved recognitions – as an Engineering News-Record National Top 20 under 40, Engineering News-Record (ENR) California Top Young Professional and Silicon Valley Business Journal (SVBJ) Woman of Influence.

Scott was selected for each award from large, competitive candidate pools, ultimately standing out for her strategic, technically astute and creative contributions to California’s construction industry, including the creation of Folia, Blach’s innovative and highly adaptable pre-engineered building solution.

Always thoughtful, Scott lent her solutions-oriented approach to the unexpected challenges brought by the COVID pandemic. She offered commentary in ENR’s national coverage of talent acquisition and the evolution of the pandemic-era construction landscapeand was selected for the opening panel of ENR’s Top Young Professionals Virtual Conference, set to take place in February 2021. Rounding out her honors was recognition at the SVBJ Women of Influence virtual celebration on October 15th.

Scott joined Blach in 2004 as a promising project engineer after graduating from UC Berkeley with a BS in Civil Engineering. Her technical proficiency and business acumen proved she was ideally suited for business development. In 2018, after having a significant impact on the exponential growth of the firm’s education market sector, she was promoted to VP of business development and marketing, becoming the youngest female vice president in Blach history. As part of the Blach Leadership Team, she assists in guiding company strategy and direction and driving company success by leading all business development and marketing pursuits.

Outside her VP role, Scott’s extensive volunteer efforts reflect her diverse skills and passion for industry and community philanthropy. She currently serves on the School Construction News Editorial Board, Northern Section of the California Association of School Board Officials (CASBO), and Stellar Academy for Dyslexics Board of Trustees. Additionally, she was a judge on the ENR California 2020 Best Projects Award judging panel.
