Santa Clara, Calif., - (February 25, 2014) Santa Clara-based general contractor and construction manager, Blach Construction Company, is partnering with Sutter Health to build a 9,000 s.f. two-story clinic in Los Altos.
The new, ground-up building, which will be operated by Sutter Health affiliate Palo Alto Medical Foundation (PAMF), will include an OSHPD-3 surgery center and exam rooms, support staff space and doctors’ offices. Hawley Peterson Snyder Architects envisioned this state-of-the-art facility to look and feel like a mountain retreat to blend with the local architecture of the adjacent businesses and residences. Construction is underway with a duration of 12 months.
Blach is using Target Value Design (TVD) on this project, a management approach that pushes the design process to deliver the greatest value to the client and develops the project within corresponding goals and constraints. Instead of designing first and estimating later, TVD establishes the estimated cost of a project as the starting point.
In addition, Blach is using an Integrated Form of Agreement (IFOA) on this project, a three-party agreement that creates a team-oriented framework instead of the traditional and separate owner-architect and owner-contractor agreements.
“We are excited to once again work with Palo Alto Medical Foundation, Sutter Health and Hawley Peterson Snyder Architects to complete this project,” said Scott Bergstrom, Project Executive & Healthcare Group Leader. “I am looking forward to further developing strong relationships with PAMF and HPS while building an outstanding new medical facility for the community.”
