“Nicole’s ability to guide clients from the vision of their project to its actual construction, particularly in today’s landscape of continued and complex cost escalation, is unparalleled,” said Blach President Dan Rogers. “With her keen eye for detail and thoughtful, assured manner, she is an exceptional role model to her colleagues, industry peers and community members and is highly respected by our partners and clients. We are thrilled to celebrate her well-deserved recognition.”

The fourth Blach employee to receive this honor, Johnson joins colleagues Kim Scott, vice president of business development and marketing, Gaye Landau-Leonard, recently retired vice president of human resources, and Laura Bold, vice president of finance, in the TWIN Hall of Fame. Kim, Gaye and Laura were each recognized in 2017, 2013 and 2005, respectively. YWCA Silicon Valley is a cause Blach whole-heartedly supports in its quest to provide much-needed services and programs aimed at eliminating racism and empowering women.

Blach’s first female estimator and an integral member of the overall firm, Johnson joined Blach a decade ago and quickly excelled through the ranks within the estimating team. In her current role as senior estimator, she works closely with the preconstruction, mechanical, engineering and plumbing (MEP) and virtual design and construction (VD&C) groups to provide cost-competitive and accurate project budgets and value engineering analyses that ensure clients achieve their project goals. Additionally, she works cross-functionally throughout the organization to build business and mentor employees, including collaborating with business development to actively secure new client projects, as well as managing and training project engineers and interns who rotate through the firm’s estimating department.

In addition to having a B.S. from California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo, Johnson is a LEED Accredited Professional through the United States Green Building Council (USGBC), a member of the American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE) and the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC). She serves on the Education Committee of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group (SVLG), was recently appointed to the Board of Directors and Fund Development Committee for the JW House in Santa Clara, which provides home services for families facing medical crises, and is vice chair of the Board of Directors for Recovery Cafe, a healing community for those affected by addiction, homelessness and mental health challenges.
