Santa Clara, Calif. – Blach Construction Company, a California-based commercial building contractor and construction manager, was selected to perform program and construction management and general contracting services for multiple Bay Area K-12 school districts.

The total available funding for the construction programs, of which Blach expects to be awarded an undetermined percentage, exceeds $500 million. To date, the company has been awarded $148 million of work with these school districts and has already completed $50 million during the summer of 2012.

$50.4 Million in Bond Programs for Belmont-Redwood Shores School District
Continuing its four-year relationship with the Belmont-Redwood Shores school district, Blach is performing program management and general contracting services for projects funded by the District’s $31 million Measure N Bond, $19.4 million Measure I Bond and $8.7 million state matching funds. The work includes new classroom/administrative buildings, existing building modernizations, associated site work and path-of-travel upgrades at the Ralston Middle, Redwood Shores Elementary, Fox and Nesbit School campuses. Projects began in April 2012 and are scheduled to complete in August 2013. Blach’s work on these campuses will assist the District in its efforts to accommodate growth and improve fire and life safety, accessibility and infrastructure.

$30 Million Bond Program for Millbrae School District
Blach has been selected to perform program management and general contracting services for Millbrae School District’s (MSD) $30M Measure N bond program. These projects include modernizations at four elementary schools, one middle school and the district office. Extending its eight-year relationship with the MSD, Blach is also contracted to build a new 15,000 s.f. cafeteria building at Taylor Middle School.

Last year, as part of Millbrae School District’s Measure X Bond, Blach performed $38M of work from the master plan budget. This summer, Blach will complete $3.2 million of work and begin an $8 million project at this District.

$98 Million Bond Program for Milpitas School District
Blach is performing construction management services for the Milpitas Unified School District’s Measure E Bond Program. The District contracted all partners and assigned projects prior to bond approval, which has enabled a smooth transition into construction. Blach will perform more than $6 million in new construction and modernization at the District between 2012-2014. These projects include a new modular multi-purpose building at Pomeroy Elementary School and a modernization program at Rancho Middle School, including locker room upgrades, new carpet, sitework and MEP system upgrades.

$162 Million Bond Program for South San Francisco Unified School District
Blach is among a pool of construction managers selected by the South San Francisco Unified School District in 2011 for its $162 million bond measure for school improvements, which passed in November of 2010. The construction program is still under development with project assignments expected later this year.

$198 Million Bond Program for Fremont Union High School District
The Fremont Union High School District prequalified Blach in 2011, as part of a pool of firms selected to perform construction services for the District’s new $198 million Measure B bond. Working closely with its onsite staff, Blach has been assigned $19-20 million of work, including a $14 million Student Union Building at the Cupertino High School campus.

Currently under construction, the new Student Union Building encompasses a library, cafeteria, administrative offices and guidance support services. Blach will also construct modular classrooms and science classroom upgrades on the same campus. In addition, Blach recently completed parking and VTA upgrades at Fremont High School this summer.
