Santa Clara, Calif., - (June 19, 2014) – Silicon Valley-based general contractor and construction manager, Blach Construction Company, recently announced the promotion of Gino Cecchetto to Director of Virtual Design & Construction.

Cecchetto-Gino
Blach Construction is a global leader in Virtual Design & Construction. To maintain and enhance their position, Blach required a leader in both construction operations and construction technologies. This is a rare combination of skills, but they found it in their newly appointed Director of Virtual Design & Construction, Gino Cecchetto.

As Director of Virtual Design & Construction, Cecchetto is pushing the limits of how the company and the Architecture/Engineering/Construction (AEC) industry use virtual design and construction tools. In addition to leading Blach’s Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) group, Cecchetto is a sought-after speaker at national and international conferences, including Tekla’s Global Business Forum, on the use of this technology.

“Gino’s builder’s approach to technology has led to our unique ‘clash avoidance’ models, and the development and implementation of tools to change the way we self-perform work,” said David Kramer, Director of Preconstruction Services. “We are delighted to see Gino’s career progress, as one of our long-term employees, and look forward to his participation on the Senior Management Team.”

Cecchetto brings more than 30 years of experience in the construction industry to Blach Construction. Joining the company in 1987, Cecchetto continued a family tradition by becoming the third Cecchetto Superintendent at Blach Construction. Through his own initiative and professional training, Cecchetto developed expertise in a variety of areas, including educational facilities, sustainable design and construction, complex electro-mechanical and bio-tech projects, and BIM technologies. In 2008, Cecchetto joined the preconstruction group, where he developed the company’s VDC service offerings.

Today, Cecchetto manages Blach’s Virtual Design & Construction group and its efforts to maximize construction efficiencies through pre-fabrication and panelization of construction systems and the integration of self-performed work teams. In his new role, Cecchetto will continue to lead the VDC group and further push its use of BIM tools and associated construction technologies, such as robotic layout and laser scanning, to streamline construction and optimize trade coordination for the company’s projects.
